Presenter: Naveah Mock, Youth Ambassador @ Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids

In this session, attendees will hear from an experienced Youth Ambassador from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids about how to authentically engage youth in tobacco control advocacy.

Breakout Sessions Round 1

(3 options, offered concurrently):

Option 1: Let’s Talk – Traditional Tobacco in American Indian Culture
Presenter: Karen Little Wounded, Coordinator @ Canli Coalition

In this session, attendees will learn about ċanśaśa, the traditional tobacco used by the Lakota and Dakota people, as well as efforts to promote traditions related to harvesting and preparing ċanśaśa.

Option 2: Let’s Talk – Working with Healthcare Providers
Presenter: Dr. Denise Hanisch, Medical Director @ South Dakota Department of Health

In this session, attendees will explore how to effectively develop partnerships with healthcare providers through discussing what has and hasn’t worked in conversations with providers about cessation and policy.

Option 3: Let’s Talk – Talking about Youth Tobacco Use
Presenter: Caroline Bennett, Activism & State Outreach @ Truth Initiative

In this session, attendees will learn how to have impactful conversations that encourage youth that use tobacco products to seek help quitting.
