Through the South Dakota QuitLine, you can enroll in phone or text coaching or order a Kickstart Kit or Quit Guide. Choose the service that is right for you and your quit journey.
Every South Dakota QuitLine service is free to any South Dakota resident ages 13 or older who are ready to commit to quitting smoking, vaping or chewing tobacco.
How Do You Use These Services?
Quit coaches are valuable in helping you quit smoking, vaping or chewing tobacco. Most coaches are former nicotine users, so they truly understand what you’re going through and come to the table with practical advice.
Through convenient, scheduled check-ins, your coach will help you stay on track by listening to your progress and struggles with quit attempts, offering solutions to deal with your triggers and cravings and giving advice on stress management.
The South Dakota QuitLine offers two types of coaching to best fit your life and your quit: enhanced phone coaching or 2QuitSD text coaching. Check out what’s included in each to find out which may be right for you.

*Receiving a free prescription of varenicline or bupropion requires a prescription from a provider, which may include an office visit charge or copay, depending on insurance status. The medication itself can be offered at no charge when you enroll in coaching with the South Dakota QuitLine.
If you’re not ready for a quit coach just yet, a visit to the website or a phone call will get you two options to quit on your own. One is a Kickstart Kit that provides you with NRT and other tools to start your quit. With the Quit Guide, you can identify your reasons for quitting, better understand your addiction and more.
